Post subject:  Is PDFsharp the right tool for me?

Hi there,

we are looking for a solution for the following task:
Several PDF files of different lengths have to be combined into one PDF file.
The summarized PDF file must have uniform headers (not the first page) and footers with graphic and text elements and consecutive page numbering.

3 PDF files are the result of a Jasper report. Additional, up to 10, PDF files come from a DMS system.
We would like to store all of these files together in a temporary directory, automatically combine them into a PDF file and send them as an attachment by email.

The 3 report PDF files can be summarized unchanged, only a continuous page numbering would have to be inserted, headers and footers could already be generated in the reports.

The other PDF files to be inserted have neither header nor footer lines, are of completely different lengths, sometimes just one line of text, sometimes 5 pages with pictures, formatted tables, etc.
We would have to insert a variable text in front of each of these PDF files.
The files should follow one another seamlessly, i.e. if the text of the first file ends in the middle of the page, the second file should start at this point, etc. 13 files with 1-5 pages can result in one file with 8 pages.

Can PDFsharp do that? Are there examples specifically for seamlessly combining multiple PDF files and integrating headers and footers?
Is it possible to copy the header and footer from one page to others?

Ralf

Hi, Ralf!

No. It'll be difficult to achieve that with PDFsharp. I think it'll be difficult to achieve with the vast majority of PDF tools.

Hello Thomas,

I was expecting that answer.

Thank you,
Ralf
